The cold and the homeless.

So last night I went to the store right before the weather got bad with snow. I started to think of all those who don't have anywhere to sleep and are sleeping outside under a bridge and the like. May God keep them safe. I have a soft spot in my heart for the homeless and I help whenever I am given the chance.  Some people may look down on them for being in that position, saying that they are drunks or drug addicts, or maybe they are scam artist looking for a way to make money without working for it.  I am not naive, and some of that is the true, but some of them are there by no fault of their own and even if it is their fault due to addictions and the like, I always remind myself of this truth. At any point in life, I myself could have made a bad decision that could have started me in a spiral and landed me in the same exact position that they are in.  We ALL could have.  In fact I have made many a bad decisions in life that should have landed me in that position but God kept me from those consequences.   So then next time that you see someone begging for money or in a need, remember that it might be you in that position, on that other side, just needing love and help.

I recall these verse that say it all. Matthew 25: 34-40 34Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, 36I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’ 37Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’ 40And the King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me.’
