Jesus Who?

Introduction
There are several subjects covered under this section.  All main subjects are below a central heading.  The purpose is to represent who Jesus is, why he came and, what the purpose of his death on the cross really was. If you should have any other question please email us and we will be happy to help you.  Go to our Contact tab for ways to reach us.

Jesus Who?
Jesus.  That name is synonymous with history, debate, movies, music, and legend.  In the pages to come we hope to shed a little light on a few things. Who exactly was Jesus of Nazareth, what were the circumstances surrounding HIS life and the real reason that HE came to earth.  It was not for fame or glory, riches or power.  He could have had all of that and more, yet HE came for something much more valuable.  HE came to earth for something more valuable than all the gold on earth, that is, you and I and our eternal salvation.  It means so much to Jesus to have us with HIM in eternity; HIS resolve, to bring us home, is backed by something more powerful than the fear of the crucifixion that HE knew HE would endure.  That determination that drove HIM then, still drives HIM today and it is very real.  Join us, Mission Lighthouse Ministries, and see why someone you may not know would give up everything for you and I.

What is Sin?
Here is an incredibly small word, yet, it has an incredibly huge and infinite meaning.  In the New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus of the English Language (1992, pg. 927), sin is defined as “an action contrary to the law of God, a state to be condemned I the light of God’s law; an offense against good sense.” Sin began when Satan (the devil) thought that he might over throw the throne of God and be like the Father.  He was full
of pride and wanted to be like God.  He was cast out of Heaven, and out of the presence of God, with a third of the angels who had the same idea as Satan did.   When God created man from the dust of the earth and breathed life through his nostrils, He gave him (Adam, the first human), charge of all creation.
After a time, God accepted the fact that the first man needed a companion.  He caused Adam to drop into a deep sleep and while he slept, God removed a rib from his body and created woman.  She was called so because she came from man.  God gave them both instructions that they were not to eat the fruit from the tree in the center of their home, called the Garden of Eden, and if they did they would surely die.  They were allowed to eat from the other trees, but this tree was special and it was not to be disturbed.  It was the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil.  God did not want robots that just followed His every command; He gave man a free will to obey or disobey. One day a serpent (Satan) appeared to Eve and asked her why she could not eat from the tree in the center of the garden.  She responded, because God said that they would surely die if they eat from it.  The serpent told her that they would not die.  But instead that God told them not to eat because God knew that the moment they did, their eyes would be opened and they would know the difference between Good and Evil.  Being tempted by the serpent, she pulled a piece of fruit from the tree and took a bite.  She handed it to Adam and he did the same.  Instantly, they realized that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together to cover there nakedness.  God was walking through the garden and called out to Adam. Adam and Eve became afraid and went into hiding.
The Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:8).  Adam answered, I heard you walking in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”  (Genesis 3:9).  The Lord God asked Adam and Eve if they ate from the tree and they said yes.  Because of their disobedience He banished them from the garden. God told Eve that because she disobeyed she would have pain in childbirth.  As for Adam, he would have to work hard the
rest of his life to eat and provide for his family.
There is a debate throughout the theologian community whether or not the acts committed by Adam and Eve were considered the first sin as laws were not literally created yet.  At the same time, it was also believed that when God spoke and when He speaks, man listens and does not disobey.  Any act of disobedience is considered a sin in God’s eyes.

How Sin Changes People:
Genesis 2:25 “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.”

Genesis 3:6-7 "How Its Effect Spreads: “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.  Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves
together and made themselves coverings.”

Seriousness of Sin:
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Trying to Excuse it By Blaming Others:
Genesis 3:11-13  “And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you
that you should not eat?” Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”  The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

Even Small Amount Can Be Deadly:
Genesis 3:17-19 "Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of
which I commanded you, saying, "You shall not eat of it", “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return.”

Spread from Adam and Eve to Others:
Genesis 4:8-10 “Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose
up against Abel his brother and killed him. Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is Abel your brother?” He said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?” And He said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood cries out to Me from
the ground.

Dealing with those who sin against us:
Matthew 18:15-18 “Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he
hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that ‘by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.’ And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he
refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector. Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Jesus died to pay the debt that man owed because of Sin:
Matthew 27;45-46 "Now from the sixth hour (noon) there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour (three
o'clock). And about the ninth hour (three o'clock) Jesus cried with a loud voice, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?--that is, My God, My God, why have You abandoned Me."
You see Jesus went to the cross and died for our sins.  To read the whole story read Matthew chapters 26,27,28

Jesus Born Without sin:
Luke 1:35 “And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will
overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.”

The following a quote from the website www.carm.org concerning how Jesus could be born without sin.
Why wasn't Jesus born with original sin?
If all people have original sin and Jesus was a human being, then didn't Jesus need to have had a sin nature?  Before we
can answer this question, we need to know what the term "original sin" means. This is a term used to describe the effect of Adam's sin on his descendants (Rom. 5:12-32). Specifically, it is our inheritance of a sinful nature from Adam. The sinful nature originated with Adam and is passed down from parent to child. We are by nature children of wrath (Eph.3:2). So, if we inherit our sinful nature from our parents, then Jesus, who had Mary as a parent, must have had a sin nature. Right?  Not necessarily. I believe that the sin nature is passed down through the father.  Let me explain.
Some Bible commentators, with whom I agree, hold the position that the sin nature is passed down through the father.
Support for this position is found in the fact that sin entered the world through Adam, not Eve.  Remember, Eve was the one who sinned first.  However, sin did not enter the world through her.  It entered through Adam. Rom. 5:12 says,
"Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned."  The concept behind this is called Federal Headship. This means that a person (a father) represents his descendants.  We
see this concept taught in Heb. 7:9-10, "And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, paid tithes, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him."  We see in Hebrews that Levi, a distant descendant of Abraham, is said to have paid tithes to Melchizedek when Abraham was the one offering the tithes, not Levi.  What this
means is that there is biblical support for the idea that the sin nature was passed down through the father.
Since Jesus had no literal, biological father, the sin nature was not passed down to Him.  However, since He had a human
mother, he was fully human but without original sin.  Jesus has two natures:  God and man.
Col. 2:9 says, "For in Him dwells all the fullness of deity in bodily form."  Jesus received His human nature from Mary, but He received His divine nature through God the Holy Spirit.  Therefore, Jesus is both God and man.  He was sinless, had no original sin, and was both fully God and fully man.

God Seeks Out Sinners:
Luke 15:3-7 “So He spoke this parable to them, saying: “What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them,
does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.  And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.”

Concluding Remarks:
Sin entered this world and as we all enter this world through birth, we are born with a sin nature.  We did not commit
the sin of Adam but because of his sin we are sinners just the same.  The only way to be right with God is to accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus provided by dying on the cross.  He was sinless and blameless and that is why only He
could die for our sin.  He was the perfect sacrifice.  Before Jesus came, a person would have to bring the perfect animal, one without blemish, and sacrifice it to God for the forgiveness of sin.  Even though they did this there was still a distance between them and God.  They could not just come before the Lord's presence in prayer.  It was done
through a priest.  And it had to be done over and over again.  When Jesus died for the full forgiveness of sin He bridged that gap between man and God so that we could accept the gift of salvation and be covered by the blood of Jesus.  By that spiritual covering, we are saved and are able now to come into the presence of the Lord.  It’s not to say that we will
never sin again, but we can go directly to God and ask for forgiveness for our sin. Our sin no longer separates us from God’s love in this life, and in the life to come when we ourselves die and step into heaven to spend eternity with Jesus.
All of this is possible because when you believe in Jesus and the sacrifice that He made, and you ask Him to save you from your sin through that sacrifice, you’re saying to Him that you know that you can’t save yourself, and that you believe in His death, burial and resurrection for the forgiveness of your sin.
He died for you.  If you were the only one on earth He still would have died for you.  Understand this:  When we die there is one of two places that we will go: heaven of hell.  You may say to yourself, “I don’t believe that.” Well that is fine, but its just like the people who just a few hundred years ago believed that the world wasn’t round but it was
nonetheless.  I hope and pray that if your reading this and you don’t know the Lord and your Savior that you will search your heart and I think you’ll find that answer that your searching for:  Jesus is the way the truth and the life. (John 14:6a)

Salvation
Psalm 27:1:  The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
There have been many books, many articles written on the subject of salvation, but the one and only book that can truly teach it is the Bible.  Unfortunately, knowing the Bible alone does not bring Salvation.
As the Bible says in John 3:1-10 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: the same came unto him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except one be born anew; he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, how can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God! That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born anew. The wind bloweth where it will, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, how can these things be? Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou the teacher of Israel, and understandest not these things?
You need more than knowledge of the Bible to be saved.  You need faith in Jesus.  You need to believe that HE came to die for your sins and that the only way to heaven is thru HIM.
The best way to begin the subject of salvation is with a definition of the word.  The New Webster’s Dictionary and Thesaurus of the English Language defines salvation “as the act of saving from destruction or catastrophe, esp. the saving of the soul from sin or its consequences (the condition of being saved) something that saves.” (p. 882).  The scripture below looks in-depth at how salvation comes, what it is according to scripture and what happens when we receive it.

Salvation is for everyone:
Luke 24:46-47 "and he said unto them, Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead the
third day; and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem."

Jesus is the Only Way:
John 14:6  Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Mat 7:13,14  "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."

John 6:67-68  "Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?  ”But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

Acts 4:12  “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must

be saved.”

Submission Leads to Salvation:
Luke 1:30-31  “Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31And behold, you
will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.”

How to Reserve It:
John 3:15  "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:18  “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Luke 13:24,25  “Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.  When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from."

John 17:3  “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

Responding to God’s Invitation of Salvation:
Luke 14:15-24:  Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, He said to him, “Blessed is he
who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!”  Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ But they all
with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’ And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ So that servant came and
reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’ And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’ Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into
the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.”

Jesus even forgave those who crucified him:
Luke 23:34:  Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

Salvation is a Gift from God:
John 3:16  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish
but have everlasting life.”

Hebrews 5:9:  "And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him"

Security of Salvation:
John 6:39  “This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should
raise it up at the last day.”

1 John 2:3-6  "Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.  He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked."

Holy Spirit will draw you to salvation:
John 6:44  “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

God Saves Us By Faith Alone:
Gal 2:19-21  "For I through the law died unto the law, that I might live unto God. 20I have been crucified with Christ;
and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me. I do not make void the grace of God: for if righteousness is through the law (the Jewish laws and religious rules of that time), then Christ died for naught.

Rom. 3:28:  “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.”

So Simple to Receive Salvation:
John 3 :16  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not
perish but have everlasting life."

Why do I need salvation?
Matthew 13:49-50  "So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among
the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."

I’m a Good Person, Isn’t that Enough?
No One Is Good Enough For Salvation:
Romans 3:10-18  "There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God.
They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one. Their throat is an open tomb; With their tongues they have practiced deceit; The poison of asps is under their lips; Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; Destruction and misery are in their ways;  And the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes"

I’ve Done a lot of wrong, Can I Ever Be Forgiven?
John 1:29:  The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, "Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of

the world!"

Concluding Remarks.
With all this scripture I am sure you may still be asking: “what do I do to be saved?”  The answer is YOU cannot DO
anything to be saved except believe in Jesus Christ and the sacrifice HE made.  The only way to be right with God is to accept the free gift of salvation that Jesus provided by dying on the Cross.  He was sinless and blameless and that is why only HE could die for our sin.  He was the perfect sacrifice.

forgiveness for our sin, and our sin no longer separates us from God’s love in this life, and in the life to come when we ourselves die and step into heaven to spend eternity with Jesus.
All of this is possible because when you believe in Jesus and the sacrifice that HE made, and you ask HIM to save you from your sin though that sacrifice, you’re saying to HIM that you know that you can’t save yourself, and that you believe in HIS death, HIS burial and HIS resurrection for the forgiveness of your sin.
HE died for you.  If you were the only one on earth, HE still would have died for you.  Understand this.  When we die there is one of two places that we will go: heaven of hell.  You may say to yourself, “I don’t believe that.” Well that is fine, but it’s just like the people who just a few hundred years ago believed that the world wasn’t round but it was

John 14:6a  "Jesus is the way the truth and the life."

The Importance of Baptism
This subject is one of the cornerstones of the Christian faith.  Baptism is the outward display of an inner change.  When someone receives Christ as there Lord and Savior the word tells us that a public display should follow.  To be baptized in our opinion should be done by immersion in water.  By being immersed in the water and than brought out again is
symbolic of the death, burial (the immersion part) and resurrection (coming out of the water part) of Jesus Christ.  It also symbolizes the washing away of your sins by the blood of Jesus.  Baptism should not be taken lightly and should be done only after one understands salvation and desires to have a close and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.
The following scripture explains why Baptism is Important.  If you are a new Christian or want to become a Believer, then the scripture below will assist you in your decisions.
First off, John the Baptist was the cousin of Jesus and went around the country preaching to the people about the love of God and that all should repent of there sins.  He was called John the Baptizer because he did just that, baptized people for the forgiveness of there sins.

Baptisms of John the Baptist:
John 1:24-27  “Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees.  And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if
you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One(Jesus) among you whom you do not know. It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.”

Baptism as a Sign of Repentance:
Matthew 3:5-6  "Then Jerusalem was going out to him, and all Judea and all the district around the Jordan; and they were
being baptized by him in the Jordan River, as they confessed their sins."

What Baptism Symbolizes:
Mark 1:4  “John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.”

Romans 6: 1-7  "What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.  For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.  For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,a that we should no longer be slaves to sin—because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.

(You see, baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.)

Why Jesus Wanted to Be Baptized:
Matthew 3: 13-17  "Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John.  But John tried to deter him,
saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized; he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased."

Jesus tells us to be baptized:
Matthew 28:19  “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Who can be baptized:
Mark 16:15-16  "He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and
is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned".  Any one can be saved and baptized for the forgiveness of their sin.  You just have to take a step of faith in the one who first stood up for you and paid the ultimate price for you.  Jesus.

John 3:16 says it plainly: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him
shall not perish but have eternal life."

The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
As Christians we believe that God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are one and the same.  For instance, a shamrock has 3 leaves but one stem.  It’s 3 yet one.  To try to fully understand the trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is something that will not fully comprehend until we meet God in Heaven.  That’s why it’s a matter of faith.  We believe, yet, we may
not completely understand.
We also believe that in the beginning God created everything:  The sun, the moon, the stars, the earth, the universe; all
of it.  God has always existed.  He was not born and will never die.  Reading Genesis will give you more in-depth understanding of the beginning of time.
When you hear about the Trinity in the Bible, you can go all the way back to the beginning in Genesis when God seems to be talking in the singular.  God made the earth and HE said it was GOOD.  HE then made the light, called it day, and said it was GOOD.  HE then made the darkness, called it night, and said it was GOOD.   After a few other creations (the sky, the oceans, the dry ground, vegetation, animals etc...), HE made man and called him Adam, but before HE did so,
HE said this in Genesis: Genesis 1:2  God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let him rule over the fish of the sea and the birds and the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
Who was GOD, The FATHER, talking to?  This has been debated and is still debated today around the world in religious communities.  Some say that HE is talking to HIS angels.  Others say that HE is talking with HIS Son and with the Holy Spirit.  Through scripture from the Old Testament and the New Testament you will learn many things about the FATHER, the SON and the HOLY SPIRIT.  Below are some scriptures that will help familiarize you with who the father is.

The Creator
Genesis 1:1  "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."

John 1:1  "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

John 1:3  "All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being."

The Father of Jesus
Matthew 3:16-17  "After being baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove and lighting on Him, and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."

Luke 9:35  "And a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son. Hear Him!”

The One to Sacrifice His Son
Matthew 27:46  "About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "ELI, ELI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" that is,
"MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?"

The Final Judge
Revelation 6:9-10  "When the lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slaughtered because of the word of God and the testimony they had given. and they cried out with a loud voice, saying, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, will You refrain from judging and avenging our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

Understanding Jesus is Understanding Him
Luke 10:22  "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and
who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.”

Only Through Jesus Can You Know Him
John 14:5  Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”

John 14:6  Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

How Should We Come to the Father?
James 4:10  "Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you."

Jesus (The Son) Who is He?
John 3:16-18  For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not
perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already,
because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Both God and HumanMatthew 1:20-23  "Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of
the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”  So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, The virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Why His Virgin Birth is Important to Christian Faith
Luke 1:34  "Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came
together (sexually), she was found with child (pregnant) of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:18  "Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”

(He was born of a virgin which is a miracle that only God can perform. Go to the following book of the Bible to read the whole story of the birth of Jesus Matthew 1&2 Luke 1, 2&3)

Importance of His Humanity
John 1:14  "And the Word (God) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten (son, Jesus) of the Father, full of grace and truth.

What Did He Do
John 5:25  "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son
of God: And they that hear shall live."

Isaiah 53:5  "But it was for our sins He was wounded, and for our evil doings He was crushed: He took the punishment by which we have peace, and by His wounds we are made well."

(Jesus died for our sins.  He made the ultimate sacrifice for us so that we could live with him in Heaven forever.  Its too much to list on this page, so please go to the following book of the Bible and read the following chapters for the whole story of the crucifixion of Jesus:  Matthew Chapters 26, 27, 28)

The Resurrection
This is the Reasons Christian’s Have Hope of Salvation
Mark 1:1-10  "After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at
the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so
afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you." So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell His disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to Him, clasped his feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

(Jesus rose from the dead to show his power over death.  ; Something that no other religion can clam about there God.
Our God lives.)

He is the Light to Mankind
John 1:4-5  "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it"

Hebrews 2:14-15  "Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil.”

What Kind of Relationship Can We Have with Him
As you can see through the verses that you've read, Jesus came to give His life for you and pay the price for the sin of
the world.  So, what kind of relationship can you have with Jesus?  As deep a relationship as you want.  He longs for a profound relationship with you and loves you so much.

The Holy Spirit...Who He Is?
John 14:26  "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and
bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 3:6:  "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

God Sent The Holy Spirit
2 Corinthians 5:5  "Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a
guarantee."

Carries out God’s work in us
Philippians 1:6-8  "Being confident of this very thing, that He (God) who has begun a good work in you will complete it
until the day of Jesus Christ; 7just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, in as much as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ."

Brings Unity to Believers
Ephesians 4:3-4  "Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.”

Helps us discern false teaching
1 John 2:26-27  "These things I have written to you concerning those who try to deceive you. 27But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”

Helps us Pray
Romans 8:26-27  "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groaning's which cannot be uttered. 7Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. "

Help Us Speak for Christ
Matthew 10:19-20  "But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.”

Luke 12:11-12  "Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say.  For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Closing Remarks
We hope that this was helpful in answering any questions that you might have as to who is the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.  As Christians, we believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God, written by men that were under the inspiration of God.  Not one single word is an accident in the Bible.  God meant for all of it to be written exactly as you see.  That’s why you see a lot of scripture here.  What better way of describing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit than to let God describe himself.  If you should have any other question please email us and we will be happy to help you.  Go to our Contact Us tab for
